Vice President of the Board
Chair, Development & Finance Committee
The son of a carpenter father and mother who served as non-profit manager, I was fortunate to have witnessed the importance of building a community -both figuratively and literally- at an early age. My parents shared a vision and later created Nazarian Construction Co., formalizing both our family's place in that community and a window into my own professional future.
I earned my bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies from Cal State San Bernardino in 1996; my successful academic and extracurricular career included sitting on Arts and Letters student board, holding internships with CSUSB Alumni Affairs and the Arrowhead United Way, and working to establish the first PRSA chapter on the CSUSB campus. Participating in the National Student Exchange program and attending the University of Georgia provided a chance to expand my studies - and my perspective.
Professionally I have lived the interpersonal sales approach of a bartender and the data-driven style of direct mail marketing; however, the bulk of my career has been in friend-raising, fund-raising, and non-profit management. Alumni relations positions at CSUSB and Chaffey College illustrated how connected our Inland Empire community is, and my time as a board member for the Ontario Chamber of Commerce reinforced the value of celebrating those connections. Fund development positions at Chaffey and the NHRA Hotrod Museum proved the community's willingness to financially support the vision for our future, and participating in Rotary International taught me how rewarding it is to Give.
I have been given much; The Arts Area allows me to give back and encourage others to pursue their own dreams.
