Richard Allen May III

FALL 2020

Due to Covid-19 Social Distancing Measures, Richard May’s exhibition Multi-Lingual Voice Discoveries was postponed. In response, The Arts Area is providing access to our exhibitions through an online presence until we are able to reopen our gallery space in Ontario at CASA Pitzer.

EXHIBITION

Richard May’s body of work reveals being at the “mercy of the medium” where the artist relinquishes the desire to control the outcome by allowing the instinctual creative process to navigate toward the aesthetic destination- voice discovery using a variety of materials.

Through mixed media, printmaking, assemblage and collage, Richard May seeks to speak to his audience in a variety of languages. Whether the theme of the figurative works entails jazz, R & B music, love, comic book culture or abstraction, the goal is to have a conversation with viewers. The smallest works are 11”x 11” on wood and the largest works are 26” x 40” on canvas/or wood. Click on images to enlarge.
